from the beginning

I have been taking pictures for this family as long as I have been in business. These girls continue to become more beautiful each year. I wanted to create elegant portraits for this family and choose a formal garden as my backdrop. We decided to use the girls' grandmother's bench that adds a sweet sentimental touch.

newborn: sophia

This is baby Sophia. Can you believe all that hair? She was a perfect sleeping baby for the full three hours of her photo shoot. This is to make up for my ten hour baby shoot six months earlier! I have been wanting to try out placing a baby in a hammock for a while now. We were gifted with an 80 degree day, two trees close together and a sleeping baby.

on location: boats

These kids are so cute. I love how natural this first image is of the little girl in the boat. This is one of my favorite images I have taken for the year; or maybe even in my life as a photographer. I love that it is more than a smiling kids staring at the camera. I am so glad that her parents chose this image as their favorite of her also. The little boy showed up with his bow tie on because it was "picture day". What a lovely, warm family to work with!

timeless photos of beautiful children

These children are cousins. The images were taken at two recent shoots. Haley had a fake laugh that she would act out on command! My lab is working with a new fiber paper and a new developer that are creating gorgeous fiber prints. The skin tones and the tonal depths with this new combination is the magic of what film photography is all about.

Yesterday, my photography friend, Allie and I had a play session with my two beautiful girls at World's End. This is a glimpse at what we shot.

on location: cute kids/cool car

This was a fun recent shoot playing with an old car. It was comical how many things went wrong that day. We had three very tired kids, a few spectators eating ice cream, Libby "the wiener dog" just being herself, and a field full of poison ivy. All the hard work was worth it when I saw the results.

Anna Maria Island, Florida

These images were taken at the banyan trees on Anna Maria Island. We visit these trees every time we are on the island. I love the way the light comes through the branches and roots of the trees.

newborn: charlie

This is baby Charlie. He was such a good baby as he slept through us carefully molding him into different poses. Doesn't mom Katie look amazing for just having baby #3. Or better stated, doesn't mom Katie simply look amazing?

fundraiser: The Little White Dress Party

I am working on a "Little White Dress Party" fundraiser to benefit The Magical Moon Foundation located in Marshfield, MA. Donna Green is an amazing illustrator for children's books and is the founder of this foundation. The mission of the foundation is to nurture and empower children with cancer.

I will take photographs at six such "parties" to be held in May at the Magical Moon Farm owned by Ms. Green. The farm has several old trees, antique barns, a chicken coop, bunny house, secret garden, tree swing and much, much more. The mini photo shoots will include an 8 x 10 print and all profits from the session fee with go directly to the foundation. These mini photo shoots will be available to the first 30 people.

Laura Marsden, a children's clothing maker, has volunteered her time and talents to remake dresses out of old linens for the event. She sells her darling children's clothing and hats on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lilyandrose.

Each party will host 5-6 children who will have the opportunity to wear the remade white linen dresses. The cost will be $150 per child, which will include one 8 x 10 print of a photograph taken on that day. $120 from each fee will benefit The Magical Moon Foundation. To sign up for a mini photo shoot contact Alyssa at 781 875-1400.

The Little White Dress fundraiser will culminate in a Little White Dress Tea Party in Hingham to be put on by the Hingham Mother’s Club and Alyssa Fortin Photography. This event will be an old-fashioned mother/daughter tea party on Saturday, June 5th, from 2-5 pm. During the party the girls will have a chance to play games on the lawn and dance around a maypole while I takes photographs. We will also have the honor to meet Donna Green; she will speak about her foundation. All profits from the Tea Party and a percentage of the sales of the photographs from that event will go to the Magical Moon Foundation. The cost is $100 per family. To sign up for this event go to: www.hinghammothersclub.org or contact Liz Klein at 781 556-5378.
